| This oil painting stands in the centre of the altar. It is a piece by Giovanni Odazzi (1663-1731) and commemorates the Jubilee. It portrays the apparition of the Virgin who gives to Saint Bruno a book (la Regola) in the presence of Saint Peter (the church) and his first brothers in worship. It is one of Odazzi's best works who was a pupil of Baciccia. It demonstrates the transition from an imposed devotion typical of the baroque style to the breezy movement of the rococo influence shown here by the use of pale colours full of light. |
